Antonín Mánes
Antonín Mánes (1784–1843) was a Czech painter. The only pupil of Austrian painter Karl Postl, he was active as a landscapist. He was much influenced by painters of the Dutch Golden Age, such as Jacob van Ruisdael; he was also exposed to the work of Caspar David Friedrich and Johan Christian Clausen-Dahl, which later informed his own as well. Mánes was the brother of painter Václav Mánes; his sons Josef and Quido also became painters, as did his daughter Amalie Mánesová.
